A 70-square-metre flat with the soul of 110

With Antonio and Pilar’s 70 m² flat, I’m not sure whether we’re looking at a success story, for what was achieved, or at a beautiful family story that lends it a patina of nostalgia and humanity.

This was Pilar’s home when she still lived with her parents, and it went on being her mother’s home until 2024, the moment when Antonio and Pilar decided that — so she could enjoy her later years to the full — they would renovate her mother’s flat and, at the same time, make it a retreat for themselves to enjoy weekends together in good company. Faced with such a lovely project ahead, the mother, in yet another act of generosity, gave up the main bedroom for the couple. In the prime of life, the vital need for wardrobes, shoes and a few little indulgences only grows. You know how it is — many of us need three wardrobes’ worth of “nothing to wear” 😊.

As for everything else, and where our own line of work is concerned, we believe we’re looking at a milestone. It isn’t how beautiful it is — it’s the magical connection of everything working, everything being thought through, everything flowing. That strange feeling of being in a flat that never seems to end, where every area expands, where what used to be a dated 70 m² flat is now a 110 m² one — the kind that makes you look good and takes ten years off you.
