The location was perfect: a home in Sarrià that seemingly could have it all. But what it truly lacked, at that moment, was a soul.
We found a newly built home with certain competitive advantages — though personalisation was not one of them. We had 180 square metres of white walls and cables hanging from the ceiling, hinting that one day, those would become lights.
We set to work developing the Interior Design Project, which is much more than simply making things beautiful.
We began a journey through the daily RITUALS of this lovely family. Each new idea brought a new layer, a new skin that would lend this warm atmosphere of serenity and careful detail. The new home would invite calm, yet it had to hold its measure of emotion.
Stone materials prevail in the main living areas, giving the space its essential connection with nature — the source of everything, and where you can create spaces that truly move you.
The lighting design, meanwhile, is deeply considered, with concepts of minimal light that bring great emotion, comfort and wellbeing to the owners of the home.
This lighting work finds its fullest expression in the fireplace, where fire itself becomes the element that illuminates the space through it. The sculptural fireplace works like a great latticework, where fire and its light, through their interplay of light and shadow, become almost a tribal call, inviting us to gather around it.
Another of the home's most iconic spaces is its beautiful terrace, where alongside spectacular landscaping, a large-format ceramic floor was laid and a pergola installed, letting us enjoy privacy and the very best of every season of the year.
A work of design and bespoke furniture making, with our carpentry as another of our hallmarks.
Likewise, the use of noble materials — both natural and ceramic — velvets, lacquers, natural veneers, and a home-automation system for controlling lighting scenes, all making the journey through the home a vibrant experience. A true work of craftsmanship, care and personalisation, for the enjoyment of our daily RITUALS.
Interior design is far more technical than you might think: even in the most outlandish designs we have ever created, there is a very high percentage of technical discipline. We steer clear of the warmth of the tribe and of the idea that, to reach certain aesthetic results, you need some special quality or talent. It isn't true.
And yet we firmly believe that good interior design has to strike a chord, be emotional, and project a solid idea — whether in boldness, in peace, in class or in disruption. Interior design cannot be fearful; it must be decisive… which is why we will never be friends with the colour white.
We look at these photos and we feel. They seduce us; we long to caress the velvet of the wall; the shadows fascinate us. It is a composition that is sober and sexy at the same time.
We wanted to describe what peace looked like in our imagination, and we feel we have found it.
